An obstacle avoiding robot is a self-driven robot that can detect and automatically avoid obstacles that it hits or gets in its way. 
The project's creative brief was to create the design of an obstacle avoiding robot, as well as, its mechanism. The design of the robot had to have a unique and interesting story behind it. As for the construction and programming, it required a lot of researching in order to execute the Arduino based obstacle avoiding robot.​​​​​​​







Concept
I automatically associated a robot with action and adventure, which is why I created a battle robot but with a twist. G3LO is a robot that was built by the army in order to spy on the enemy. It did very well in every battle, until one day it received a knockout blow that caused it to catch fire, destroying some parts of its outer body, however, no internal damage was done. Despite all this, G3LO managed to triumphantly spy on the enemy, and restore order to the land. ​​​​​​​
Tools & components
The tools I used included; Arduino UNO, 5V DC motors, motor driver, ultrasonic sensor, battery, wheels, chassis, jumper wires, screwdriver, and welding tools


Technical Process


Shape & Assembly ​​​​​​​
The main body was done using an old Ice-cream package, it was colored in bronze using acrylic paint in order to fit into the design concept. To create the effect of burns on some parts of the body, I used black acrylic paint and a sponge.
